Allmänt
The Warm Audio WA-2MPX is a highly accurate reproduction of the AMPEX 351 tube microphone preamp, the legendary preamp that helped produce every well-known record from the '50s and '60s. From Elvis Presley and Roy Orbinson to master-engineers like Steve Albini who used it for countless productions in the nineties, including Nirvana's 'In Utero', the AMPEX 351 is a truly iconic bit of kit that's now available in the more affordable form of the WA-2MPX.
Three Tubes Per Channel
Each channel is home to two 12AX7 tubes and a single 12AU7 tube teamed up with custom CineMag transformers to guarantee the rich, vintage sound that digital gear and plug-ins could never match, while the natural compression and saturation offered by the WA-2MPX is the result of analogue components that are based on authentic reel-to-reel tape recorders from the '50s, '60s and '70s running at a speed of 15 IPS. In addition, this preamp comes with a 2kHz low-pass filter and 80Hz hi-pass filter for eliminating unwanted lows and highs or injecting warm mids and punch, and like all Warm Audio units, it's been put together by hand, tested and thoroughly inspected.
